The Family History Library

Where Research is Done

Most genealogical research is done at The Family History Library owned and operated  by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Salt Lake City, Utah.  This is the largest genealogical library in the world and its holdings contain millions of microfilms and books containing historical and genealogical records from around the world.   Click on Tax-deductible Genealogical Research Options for more information about genealogical research options.

Roger P. Minert, Ph.D., A.G. at The Family History Library

Although The FamilyHistory Library contains millions of records from around the world, it may not contain all the records needed to complete a genealogical research problem.   When it is necessary to use other facilities, other genealogical libraries or county, state or country archives are contacted for the information.

Sometimes, with foreign genealogical research, research at a particular church or archive is best.   Click on Foreign Tax-deductible Genealogical Research Trips Available for more information.
