Genealogical Thinking Process

Genealogy Thinking Situation

A. J. Biggers born 1815 in North Carolina, lived in Fayette Co., Tennessee until 1855 and then moved to northern Mississippi.  He was the founder of Biggersville, Mississippi.  He  died there in 1882.

Some members of the Biggers family living in Mississippi near Biggersville, believe that A. J. Biggers, born 1815 in North Carolina, was Andrew Jackson Biggers because he was born in the same area of North Carolina as President Andrew Jackson.  Another branch of the Biggers family in Texas believes that his name was Alexander Jackson Biggers because one of his grandchildren was named Jackson Alexander Biggers in his honor.

Both branches of the family are sure that they are correct.

Which branch of the family is correct?
